The men's Certina Urban DS-1 C029.807.11.031.02 watch impresses with its excellent workmanship and impeccable retro style combined with modern solutions. Responsible for its accurate operation is the innovative Powermatic 80.111 automatic movement, which has a walk reserve of up to 80 hours. It is equipped with the DS double security system. Both the mesh bracelet and the round envelope are made of high-quality 316L stainless steel. The uniform look is complemented by a convex silver dial with distinctive blue steel hands. On the surface of the dial, there is additionally a day-of-the-month date tracker. The whole is protected by a hard sapphire glass with anti-reflective coating. 100 meters of water resistance protects the inside of the case during surface swimming. The product C0298071103102 comes with a 2-year warranty. An additional leather strap is included.
Functions
Steel
The 316L stainless steel, which Certina uses for cases, bracelets and clasps for instance, is extremely resistant, corrosion-resistant and hygienic. It contains only a very small proportion of nickel, which is not emitted when worn and therefore does not trigger any nickel allergies.
Sapphire
Sapphire watch crystal is made of aluminium oxide powder (Al2O3) heated to over 2000°C. The resultant sapphire nugget is cut with great precision into fine slices, trimmed and polished. Sapphire is extremely scratch-resistant, shock-resistant and is very transparent. This is why sapphire crystal is an essential element in the DS Concept.
Leather
Leather is extremely strong, breathable and hard-wearing. The process of manufacturing a leather strap comprises a large number of steps, such as treatment with plant-based tanning agents. Certina uses calf leather only and no exotic types of leather – the straps are therefore not subject to CITES regulations. The pattern on some Certina straps, such as the crocodile print, is created using a careful embossing process. Certina leather straps are lined with an anti-allergenic synthetic material to provide added comfort when worn and to minimise skin sensitivity.
DS
Since 1959, the DS Concept has reflected Certina's uncompromising standards. The secret behind this "Double Security" (DS) lies in a robust design which, with its scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, sophisticated sealing system that includes the stem and crown, and reinforced watch back, covers every aspect of the watch case. Thanks to the DS Concept, every single one of Certina's timepieces boasts outstanding resistance – a quality that their owners can always rely on.
Mesh
Mesh straps and Milanese bracelets are made of tiny metal elements that are woven together in a fine knit. Watchmakers first started using this traditional manufacturing technique many decades ago. Mesh straps are extremely robust yet beautifully elegant at the same time. They hug the wrist comfortably, feeling smooth against the skin.
Quick release
Various Certina models are fitted with a sophisticated quick-change mechanism that enables the wearer to remove the strap easily and swap it for another one. The spring pins in these straps have minute levers that can be pushed down and unlocked with ease.

Nivachron
The Certina C029.807.11.031.02 watch features a movement equipped with the patented Nivachron titanium hairspring, which protects the model from upsetting due to harmful magnetic radiation. The spring is resistant to temperature fluctuations, aging and shock.
DS Concept System
Thanks to the DS Concept technology comprising 5 solutions (o-ring seals on the shaft, crown, caseback, sapphire glass and reinforced caseback, the Certina C029.807.11.031.02 watch is resistant to extreme weather conditions, as well as pressure. The system makes the device shock-resistant.
Waterproof
