Bauhaus watches are manufactured with extreme attention to detail. Every element, from the mechanism to the clasps and hands, is carefully thought out and designed to reflect as accurately as possible the idea of the architectural principle "form follows function". The distinctive vintage design of Bauhaus watches will complement both formal attire and everyday wear.
Bauhaus - where history meets innovation
Bauhaus is a German watch company founded in 2019 by PointTec (the founder of Zeppelin, Junkers and Iron Annie brands). The inspiration for its creation can be traced back to 1919. It was then that the renowned and modernist Bauhaus School of Arts and Crafts was founded. Bauhaus watches perfectly reflect the philosophy of the German avant-garde school and its founder Walter Gropius, i.e. buildings and objects were made to be functional, practical, useful, simple and inexpensive, so everyone could afford them.
Another reason for PointTec to set up the new Bauhaus brand was the purchase of the factory buildings of VEB Uhrenwerke Ruhla. Why? Firstly, this was the place where traditional German Ruhla watches were produced since 1929. Secondly, these historic buildings were designed in the Bauhaus style by the prominent Jena-based architects Schreiter & Schlag. Although the company’s success is already evident, there is no doubt that this is only the beginning of what can be achieved.
Precise mechanisms in Bauhaus watches
Bauhaus watches represent reliability, precision and top-quality workmanship. The German brand focuses on accurate timekeeping – there are watches powered by traditional automatic and reliable quartz movements. In the former case, the manufacturer uses the Miyota calibre 8215 from the renowned Japanese company Citizen. Automatic watches feature a transparent caseback, through which you can admire the workings of the mechanism. In case of quartz movements, on the other hand, the brand uses prestigious and reliable Swiss Made Ronda 505 and Ronda 6004.D. calibres. These quartz movements are used, for example, in the Classic Quartz and Small Second lines.
