Lip watches - history of the brand
Lip is a French workshop that has over 150 years of tradition in the production of wristwatches. Thanks to his innate skills and experience (his father was a seller of watchmaking supplies), Emmanuel began to create real works of art that are still being admired today. Then, he passed on his knowledge to his sons, who continued their father’s vision by creating a family, forward-looking enterprise. Frederic Lipmann, continued the tradition but focused on modernizing the offer. His energy, enthusiasm and love for water sports led to many innovations, which made Lip famous all over the world. Great world leaders reached for the brand’s watches, including Charles de Gaulle, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Winston Churchill and Bill Clinton, as well as French soldiers and pilots during World War I.

At the beginning of the 20th century a real revolution broke out in the entire watchmaking industry. It has resulted in many changes also in the production of Lip watches. In this French manufactory, breakthrough models such as the first electronic watch in the world (Electronic) and the first watch with a water resistance of 200 m and a rotating inner bezel (Nautic-Ski) were produced. This brand is known for its men’s watches, because in most cases they are designed by women. A female look at chronometers and the employment of as many as 7 designers from different backgrounds resulted in the creation of lines awarded with prestigious prizes.
