The origins of Atlantic watch manufacturing
Eduard Kummer Betlach (EKB), as the company Atlantic was initially called, was founded in Switzerland in 1888 by Eduard Kummer, a Swiss watchmaker. When he received his master's degree and returned to his home town of Bettlach, he decided to establish an industrial district. Thanks to the support of local residents, the plan came to fruition surprisingly quickly. In 1888, the first manufactory was established. At first Kummer employed only 15 workers, but just before the beginning of the 19th century the company grew to almost 800 people.
Atlantic women's watch - quality certified by tradition
Eduard Kummer Betlach started its business by producing parts for such big brands as Longines and Certina. The first watches with the name Atlantic appeared in 1932 and immediately conquered the market, using an anchor and a circus as their logo. As one of the few, the Kummer manufactory had a range of waterproof watches. In the 1950s, Atlantic made another major breakthrough - the engineers there invented a high-speed date mechanism using a crown. It is worth noting that it is still used today in most watches in the world. The year 1950 is an important date both for the company and for the Poles, because then Atlantic appeared on our market and immediately won the hearts of millions of compatriots. From 1965 for the next 30 years the brand dominated in Poland, and in 1998, after two years of absence, Atlantic returned to our market. Since 2009 Krzysztof Holowczyc became the brand's ambassador.
