How does a chronograph work? What is it and is it worth choosing a chronograph watch?
A chronograph in a watch is a complication of the mechanism, dividing the basic unit of time, which is the second. In quartz watches, this is very easy - the electronic circuits that recalculate the vibrations of the quartz crystal have to perform an additional calculation, determining the tenths or hundredths of a second, and display them on additional sub-dials of the watch. Meanwhile, the chronograph in an automatic watch is more complicated - it not only has additional dials placed on it, but also numerous components of the mechanism, which make the making of such a watch much more demanding and time-consuming, which at the same time increases its value.
Is it worth choosing such a chronograph-watch? Definitely. First of all, you can make much more precise measurements with it. Secondly, it looks a bit more casual than a classic suit, and at the same time loses nothing of its elegance, which may appeal especially to men who appreciate casualness even in formal situations. Thirdly, automatic chronograph watches are much more prestigious than those without the word "chronograph" precisely due to their greater complexity and difficulty of construction - thus, any watch lover is sure to appreciate such a model.
