The idea, initiative and eventual launch of the Daniel Wellington brand was initiated by a chance meeting between two men - current company founder Philip Tysander and British businessman Daniel Wellington. Tysander was enchanted by the gentleman's style, and his particular attention was drawn to a retro-style watch that hung from an old, faded NATO strap. The juxtaposition inspired the traveler enough to compose various juxtapositions after the trip was over, and to found a brand specializing in the production of envelopes that allow the watch's appearance to be continuously modified by being able to change the strap.
