The Venezianico brand has announced the launch of a new Nereide Ametista model limited to 400 pieces. The watch combines the rich tradition of Venezian craftsmanship with experiments with contemporary materials. In addition to the amethyst dial and stainless steel envelope, the model stands out for its use of tungsten for the bezel. This is an extremely durable metal known for its excellent mechanical properties.
Amethyst is a variety of quartz with purple hues ranging from light, delicate shades to intense, deep colours. Its beauty is highlighted by its ability to gently reflect light, creating a beautiful, shimmering effect. Due to its exceptional brilliance and elegance, amethyst has been used to create high-quality jewellery and artistic objects. Since the Middle Ages, it has held a place of honour in the creation of Venetian jewellery and ornaments. This precious stone has always fascinated and inspired artisans, becoming a symbol of elegance and sophistication.
The Venezianico Nereide Ametista watch uses real amethyst for the unique dial. The dial was made from a single piece of amethyst, which is no easy task. Its thickness is only 0.4 mm. This operation requires exceptional precision and careful tool control, given the natural fragility of the stone and its tendency to splinter. Once this stage is completed, the disc is carefully assembled by specialised craftsmen.
The entire Nereide collection takes its inspiration from the submarine of the same name, it is its image that decorates the screw-down caseback of the watch. The model also has a screw-down crown and a rotating bezel with a minute scale with a tungsten insert, which, combined with a water resistance rating of 20 ATM, makes it a diver's watch. The watch's 42-millimetre-size envelope is made of 316L stainless steel. The amethyst dial is complemented by legible linear indexes and hands with Swiss Super-LumiNova BGW9 luminescent coating. The date of the days of the month is placed at 3 o'clock.
The Venezianico's dial is protected from damage by sapphire glass with an internal anti-reflector. At the heart of the watch, ensuring the precision of the movement, is the Swiss automatic movement Selitta SW200-1, complemented by an Italian-made purple rubber strap that corresponds in colour to the dial of the watch. A set that comes with a steel bracelet will also be available.
