The 20th anniversary of the launch of the iconic Orient Mako series of dive watches will be commemorated by the manufacturer with the launch of a special model. It will be a watch limited to 3,000 pieces characterised by a unique dial with a blue gradation alluding to ocean waves. It is certainly a unique proposition la fans and collectors.

Orient dials on the market since the 1960s
Orient's diver watch models, which appeared in the 1960s, are an important part of the brand's history and have represented the company's values ever since. Each model in the series features an engraved dolphin icon on the caseback, and the watches themselves are known to aficionados as the Orient Mako. Since its debut in 2004, this model has been released in a variety of dial colours and details.

The Orient Mako RA-AA0822L19B anniversary limited edition watch features a unique blue dial with gradation from 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock, a symbol of the ocean surrounding Japan. The embossed wave pattern, the words "Anniversary Edition" at 4 o'clock and the golden hands emphasise the celebratory character of the model. The watch features a rotating bezel with six embossing, typical of Orient Mako models. It has been combined with a two-tone blue and black aluminium plate where the colours separate at the triangular and 20-minute markers.
Construction and functionality of the Orient Mako anniversary model
The steel envelope houses the watch's driving werk for operation. It is an automatic movement (with the possibility of manual winding), the manufactory's calibre F6922, which offers a stable accuracy of +25 seconds to -15 seconds per day and a power reserve of 40 hours. The mechanism is bearing 22 jewels. In addition to the characteristic wave pattern, the dial also features three Arabic and eight linear indexes, which, like the hands, are luminescent-coated. At the height of three o' clock there is a day-date display indicating the day of the week and the day of the month. The dial is protected from damage by sapphire glass.
On the caseback of the Orient watch there is traditionally placed an engraving depicting a dolphin, in addition to which we can find information about the limited edition and the number of the limited edition of the given piece. The screw-down crown increases the water resistance of the watch, which is rated at 20 ATM, meaning that it can be used for swimming and diving without an oxygen bottle. The whole is completed by a stainless steel (SUS316L) bracelet with a three-point deployment buckle with push-button and safety.
