We're so excited to welcome a new brand on board at Watchard - Venezianico. Read our article to find out more about the manufacturer’s origins and most interesting collections. We’ll also tell you what’s the inspiration behind the brand and what are the company’s values. So, keep on reading to learn more about the unique character of Venezianico watches.

Venezianico - brand history

The company was founded under the name Meccaniche Veneziane in 2017 by Alberto and Alessandro Morelli. The idea behind the project was to create automatic watches as a tribute to Venice and its delightful surroundings. The special feature of these watches is the rotor decorated with a cross which, at the same time, is the brand’s logo.

With the beginning of this year, the brand started a new chapter in the history of the Italian manufacture. The company introduced a new approach to its designs that involved the decoration of the whole watch, rather than just its movements. Therefore, the name Meccaniche Veneziane was considered inappropriate and the brand was renamed Venezianico to better reflect the brand's values. The company, however, continues to draw on the heritage of Venice. Each collection refers in some way to this beautiful city.

Venezianico - references and origins of the name

What exactly does the new name mean? The name Venezianico is composed of the adjective “Veneziano”, which means “related to Venice” and the Latin suffix “ico”, which stands for “a way of being”. That’s why the whole name can be translated into “a way of being related to Venice", or “a Venetian way of being”.

The brand draws inspiration from different structures and buildings in Venice, including the already mentioned cross. Why did the cross become the brand's logo? Well, because it's a perfect example of symmetry. Not only does it have four arms of the same length, but it can also be perfectly fitted inside a circle. This means that a cross is designed according to the criteria of geometric perfection and is a representation of balance and harmony. The logo was inspired by the cross from the Clock Tower located at St. Mark’s Square, which is a place with a merchant history. It was there that the business and political life of the city took place in the 15th century. It’s certain that at that time the clock set the rhythm of life for all Venetian citizens.

Venezianico watches - the company's values

Every self-respecting company follows certain principles and values, which set the moral compass and show the brand's attitude towards its customers. It is no different in the case of Venezianico. Above all, the designers focus on creativity, high quality at an affordable price and a sustainable approach to production. Thanks to the use of automatic movements, there are no problems with batteries, which often contain harmful substances and heavy metals that damage our health and the environment. The lightweight yet elegant boxes into which the watches are packed are made from 95% recycled paper. Also, the manufacturer encourages the clients to reuse the packaging their order arrives in.

Venezianico collections - references to the city of Venice

Now, let's learn more about what characterises each collection of this Italian brand. Find out what materials are used in the production of Venezianico watches.

Venezianico Redentore Riserva di Carica watches - with love to the Venetian architecture

Redentore Riserva di Carica is the brand’s latest collection, which will go on sale very soon. The watches from this collection are available in five different colours and are distinguished above all by a power reserve indicator. So, you will always know how much power remains before the watch needs to be wound. At 6 o’clock there is a stylish date display in the form of a subdial. Besides, the polished dial is protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflection coating. The 316L stainless steel case is complemented with an Italian leather strap. The design of Redentore Riserva di Carica watches is inspired by the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer. The church was designed by an Italian Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio, who is considered the father of neoclassicism. The watches are powered by the premium NE57 automatic movements.

Venezianico Nereide Ultraleggero - watches for lovers of renaissance versatility

Nereide Ultraleggero watches come with either a leather strap or a Canova bracelet. The models are distinguished by a patented skeleton dial (composed of three layers), which reveals the intricate workings of the NH70A automatic movement. All details are clearly visible thanks to the anti-reflective sapphire crystal, known for its high hardness and clarity. The rotating bezel is made of 316L stainless steel. It has 120 clicks and ridged edges for comfortable use. Thanks to the luminous material, BGW9 Super-LumiNova®, you can read the time in complete darkness. The case back features an image of the Vitruvian Man and combines three different finishes: radial satin finish, micro-sandblasting and polishing. The collection refers to Renaissance values, including the close relationship between science and art as shown, for example, in the dials.
