The Suunto 9 Peak is one of the hottest launches of the year. Created in collaboration with top engineers, the smartwatch proves useful not only when doing sports, but also when spending time outdoors. The brand decided to celebrate the launch of its release with the Peak Creators collection. The line is inspired by creative people who have interesting professions, e.g. a trail builder, a photographer and an architect.

Build mountain trails with the Suunto 9 Peak smartwatch

Let’s start with Dan Raymond’s case, who is a trail builder. The man is professionally involved in building mountain bike tracks in the Canadian town of Whistler. The venue is famous for its alpine skiing and mountain biking trails. In 2010, some of the competitions of the Winter Olympic Games were held there. Raymond’s passion for designing and building trails started very early when he and his friends discovered that tyre tracks left by people marked out completely new paths that can be followed later on.

What features of the Suunto 9 Peak help Dan at work? With the map and route navigation, Dan can easily map out his POIs (points of interest). In other words, he can mark places with potential for new bike trails. By connecting these points, he can easily map out a track and create a visualisation of the paths he will later build. For him, building trails from scratch is about creating challenging routes that are sure to give riders a thrill. Thus, these routes can’t be too easy.

Suunto 9 Peak as a photographer’s assistant

Angela Percival, an Arc’teryx’s senior outdoor photographer, is another person invited to take part in the Suunto project. By taking pictures outdoors, she tries to show how small everything else is compared to nature. When photographing professional athletes, she often climbs mountain peaks. The conditions in the mountains are demanding and the temperatures are often extreme. That’s why for someone who doesn’t deal with sports on a daily basis, these conditions are very challenging. But, as Angela says, the most inspiring thing for her is just being outside.

In order to do her job, Angela needs to be active to keep up with the athletes who climb peaks. The Suunto 9 Peak smartwatch helps her with that as it comes with numerous sports modes to monitor her workouts and progress.

Landscape architecture with the Suunto 9 Peak

Ryley Thiessen is a landscape architect. For him, his work always comes back to balance. He strives to give people a unique experience of being in the places he has designed. Treating everyone equally, he makes no distinction between local residents and tourists. Ryley designs all kinds of infrastructure related to sport and nature that can be reused in all seasons, all year round. He also cares about alternative forms of transport, creating trails adapted to the needs of cyclists.

For Ryley, the Suunto 9 Peak comes in handy during field trips. When he begins the design process, he takes part in a mountain expedition and does a lot of computer analysis using topographic mapping. Features like a compass and altimeter prove very useful during such expeditions.

Suunto 9 Peak - useful smartwatch for spending time outdoors

Suunto is the perfect example that the outdoors is not just about sports. Suunto smartwatches prove to be very useful for trail builders, photographers, architects, etc. This is confirmed by the people described above, for whom being outside in nature is both a passion and a job.
