Luminescent coating - a functional convenience
Luminescent coating is a compound that is most often applied to the indexes and hands of a watch. This allows us to comfortably read the time even in the absence of light. For this purpose, phosphorescent compound is used, which shines only for some time, or isotopes of promethium and tritium. Most of the new models use a Super-LumiNova coating created on the basis of strontium aluminate for illumination, which is non-radioactive and non-toxic. It has been on the market since the 1990s, and the most commonly used coatings in watches include Neobrite and Lumibrite.
