Japan is not just a country of cherry blossom - the country, along with Switzerland, is considered one of the leaders in the watchmaking industry. Both countries have shaped the watchmaking market we know today. Japanese watches are famous not only for their powerful movements, but also for their unusual designs referring to the Western culture.

Japanese watches - what do they have to offer?

While Switzerland is associated with tradition and historical roots, Japan is closely related to innovation. That's why today this Asian country can be called the Silicon Valley of watchmaking. Japan invented and popularised the most accurate battery-powered quartz movements of its time, as well as electronic LCD screens - the precursor to today's smartwatches. There is therefore no doubt that Japan is an advanced country in the field of technology.

Japan can be proud of its top watch companies just like Switzerland is proud of Atlantic, Victorinox and Tissot. Most Japanese watches can boast a long tradition of watchmaking, just as Switzerland. The only difference is that Japanese watches came to Europe a little later. Nevertheless, they quickly won the hearts of millions of watch lovers, becoming the biggest rival to the Swiss watchmaking industry.

Casio watches - dream of teenegers of a bygone era

The Casio brand was founded in 1946. Initially, the company was mainly associated with electronic products. In 1974, the manufacturer decided to launch its first line of watches - this one decision forever changed the watch market. The brand released the first watch with a digital LCD display, which became a real hit. In 1981, Casio released another watch that shocked the market as it had a built-in calculator. Back then, every teenager wanted a watch like this. Even today, people who are now in their thirties nostalgically recall Casio watches of this period.

Today, Casio continues to lead the way in creating technologically advanced watches. The Casio Vintage collection offers an updated design of watches from the late 1970s and early 1980s. The famous Casio G-SHOCK watches with their durable cases gained popularity among men, while the Casio Baby-G series won the hearts of teenage girls in the 1990s with its stylish design.

Seiko watches - perfection since 1881

The Seiko brand was established in 1881 and now is regarded as one of the most recognisable manufacturers in the world. Its founder, Kintaro Hattori, began his career by repairing European watches based on solar time (Asian watches were based on lunar time). Thanks to years of practice, in 1910 he developed the first balance wheel and presented the first wristwatch with the Seiko logo. Many celebrities, such as Roger Moore and Sean Connery, wore watches from this Japanese brand. Seiko is also a sponsor of a Serbian professional tennis player - Novak Djokovic. In honour of his great sporting achievement, Seiko launched a limited edition watch series.

Among the numerous collections of Seiko watches, the Seiko Prospex, Seiko Presage and Seiko Chronograph are the most popular, as they represent the best combination of casual and sporty style.

The Orient brand was founded by Shogoro Yoshide in 1901, in the shopping district of Tokyo Ueno. At first, the company imported pocket watches from Europe. In 1912, Yoshida founded Toyo Tokei Manufacturing and started producing gold cases. In 1934, the Japanese company began manufacturing wristwatches. In 1951, the brand changed its name to Orient Watch Company. In the same year, the brand presented its flagship product (considered iconic to this day) - the Orient Star, which over time, became a separate company. Today, the Orient brand is recognised all over the world thanks to following current trends, extraordinary consistency and care, which ensures that each Orient watch is carefully designed.

Among the Orient collections, the most popular ones is the Orient Classic Design, referring to traditional watches with a timeless look and use, and the Orient Diver 200M, offering durable diving watches for divers who go down for long.
