Robert Lewandowski has been in the spotlight of the sports media for a while now, and the long-running process of his transfer from Bayern Munich has focused the attention of the entire football world. The Pole eventually made his way to FC Barcelona, which is generating just as much excitement. The Spanish team has recently been in Miami, where they are playing friendly matches in preparation for the La Liga season. The attention of journalists is, of course, directed primarily at Lewandowski. Photojournalists have managed to snap a picture of the watch the player is wearing in the States. It turns out to be an extremely expensive model. Which one? Let's find out.

Love for high-end watches

As it turns out, the captain of the Polish National Team has a weakness not only for expensive cars, but also for premium luxury watches. He has many high-end models in his collection. In Miami, a watch by Swiss brand Audemars Piguet could be spotted on Lewandowski's wrist. Specifically, it is the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar model.

The uniqueness of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar

The case and bracelet of this exceptional model were made of ceramic. In fact, each element of Audemars Piguet watches is made by hand. It takes around 6 hours of work to make one bracelet. Just as much time is spent to make a case, which features satin and polished surfaces, and the bezel with a set of 6 distinctive screws. The heart of the watch is an automatic movement with calibre 5134 and a power reserve of 40 hours. The frequency of the balance wheel is 2.75 Hz and the entire mechanism consists of a total of 374 components. Protected by sapphire glass, the dial is decorated with a Grande Tapisserie pattern. The dial features four sub-dials that indicate the perpetual calendar. They correspond to the day of the week, the date, the month, leap years and the phases of the moon. The inner ring surrounding the dial shows the scale of the weeks.

The uniqueness of this model also lies in the fact that the black colour is mainly reserved for sports watches. Classic timepieces with advanced complications in an all black edition (case, bracelet, dial) are hardly ever seen. What’s more, the watch on the day of its launch (2017) cost $85,000. Undoubtedly, such an extraordinary timepiece is perfect for an athlete who is already called a legend. He has achieved almost everything in his career, and there are many indications that he is on an excellent new path to achieve even more.
