Quartz watches are the most popular type of men's watches, which has conquered all kinds of timepieces - from sporty, to elegant and even extremely high-tech - solar watches, which, admittedly, use the sun's rays to drive the system, but quartz is responsible for its functioning anyway.
The battery-powered quartz mechanism is the simplest and most versatile drive system, as it uses the most widespread technology. Check now what watches with quartz mechanism we currently have on offer.
The functioning of watches based on the quartz system is very simple, which is perhaps why this drive has dominated the watchmaking market in its time. An electrical impulse from a battery activates a quartz crystal, which vibrates at a frequency of thirty-two thousand vibrations per second. This result is interpreted by the quartz resonator and gradually lowered, so that the watch can measure time exactly every second. As a result, quartz watches are much more accurate than those with manual winding, providing a guarantee of exceptional precision. Their only drawback is the need to change the batteries periodically, which forces a visit to the watchmaker, but this is an excellent opportunity to overhaul the watch - which should be done from time to time to preserve its life and provide the necessary maintenance.
It doesn't seem so - on the contrary. Quartz mechanisms turn out to be the best way for watches to work even in the case of solar-powered timepieces - the solar panel absorbs energy, but it is the battery that collects it and makes the quartz crystal vibrate. Such watches are thus not only very precise, but also environmentally safe thanks to the absence of battery replacement. Thanks to production by a number of established brands, such as Seiko, Casio, Citizen and Orient, quartz mechanisms will certainly not become a melody of the past - more, it may be that in them lies the future of the watch market.
