Venezianico Nereide GMT 39 watch with the Seiko NH34A calibre
The Venezianico Nereide GMT 39 is an unusual and unique traveller's watch that is available in 4 colour versions: light anthracite 3521501C, turquoise 3521502C, pearl grey 3521503C and black 3521504C. It is designed for enthusiasts who appreciate both the classic form of the outer elements of the case and the beauty of the mechanical heart inside. And not just any heart, as it houses the NH34A automatic movement from Japanese brand Seiko - used for the first time in this very model. Introduced in July 2022, the mechanism with GMT function is the first such calibre with this module produced by the world-renowned watch giant.
The Seiko NH34A movement has 24 jewels. Once the spring is fully wound, the calibre boasts a power reserve of 41 hours. However, the most important feature of this latest calibre is that it is equipped, not only with a date display, but also with one of the most popular and sought-after GMT modules.
GMT function in the Italian Venezianico Nereide watch
The GMT module, or Greenwich Mean Time is known as the local time of the zero meridian of the homonymous London borough. In the Venezianico Nereide GMT 39 watch it comes in the form of an additional arrow-shaped hand that makes one revolution every 24 hours. This function allows the wearer to keep track of a time zone other than the local time, and can be independently adjusted via the crown (in the first position with a clockwise movement).
The carefully engraved caseback commemorates the adoption in 1884 of the 24 time zone system as a global reference time system based on Greenwich Mean Time. The engraving was made on the screw-down steel caseback. It depicts the globe with the major cities of the world along with their time zones. The engraving has the additional feature - it allows you to set the specific time zone in the traditional way without the need for extra tools.

That’s why the dial is protected by a hard sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, the hands and polished, hand-applied indices are coated with luminescent BGW9 Super-LumiNova pigment for excellent legibility in the dark and under water, and the inserts for the unidirectional rotating sports bezels are made of light and transparent BK7 optical glass of low-dispersion.
