G-SHOCK 40th Anniversary Adventurer’s Stone GEM Cordierite
Cordierite is also known as travellers' stone, as it was formerly used primarily to show the way. Its unusual properties related to the change in colour depending on the polarisation of light often helped sailors to determine the position of the sun after it had set and in overcast skies. Now its texture and beautiful blue colour has been used in the design of the case and octagonal bezel of the Casio G-SHOCK Original 40th Anniversary Adventurer's Stone GEM Cordierite Limited Edition GM-2140GEM-2AER watch. The desirable multicoloured polarising effect, which is similar in properties to a mineral, is accentuated by the IP-coated forged bezel and the finish of the dial using the CVD method, i.e. a chemical vapour deposition coating process.

The shimmering light reflections, crystalline texture and rainbow glitter of sunstone has been enchanting with its beauty, colours and pure form for generations. Sunstone is regarded as one of the most beautiful and rare minerals. It can be compared to a small ray of sunshine brightening up a dull reality. So it is no surprise that the producers of G-SHOCK, inspired by the sunstone's fever of colours, have reproduced it in the G-SHOCK 40th Anniversary Adventurer's Stone GEM Sunstone Limited Edition GM-5640GEM-1ER watch. Thanks to the reproduction of the properties of aventurescent feldspar and the amazing play of colours that change their shades depending on the sun's rays, this model will motivate the users to take action, achieve their goals and do the seemingly impossible.
G-SHOCK 40th Anniversary Adventurer’s Stone GEM Calcite
How different would the discovery of new lands and continents have been a few centuries ago without the crucial minerals for adventurous travellers – cordierite, sunstone and, of course, calcite? Calcite, which is the stone of balance and the talisman of wanderers, is found in nature in many different colours and is used in many industries. Its pure (transparent) variety is characterised by double refraction. This unique effect has often been used to determine direction of travel in times of reduced visibility due and heavy cloud cover.
The subtle colour, exceptional transparency and rhomboidal structure of calcite, were and still are prized for their polarising properties. This is why the beautiful crystalline form has been reproduced in the other four G-SHOCK 40th Anniversary Adventurer's Stone GEM Limited Edition watches. The design of the first model GM-S2140GEM-9AER draws inspiration from the golden variety of calcite. The delicate shine of the forged bezel is accentuated by the white flexible strap. To mark the 40th anniversary of indestructible Japanese watches for real tough guys, the Calcite limited edition men's watch GM-114GEM-1A9ER has been created. The model comes with a distinctive dimensional dial with two displays and a special shock-resistant case. The case is distinguished by a bezel treated with black and gold IP coating. The desired effect is enhanced by the black resin strap whose uneven texture was achieved using hot-stamping. The same method was used to produce the straps for the other models in the Adventurer's Stone GEM Limited Edition series, i.e. GM-S114GEM-1A2ER with the violet hue of calcite and GM-S5640GEM-7ER reproducing the translucent crystalline glow of the mineral. The metal bezel is laser engraved and coated with rainbow IP with multiple layers to recreate the stunning pattern of calcite crystals and the radiant glow it creates through refracted light.
