1/29/26The Zeppelin from the Friedrichshafen series is a watch that makes an incredible impression in person, especially if you’re into retro styles and aviation heritage. As a guy, what I appreciate most about it is that it isn’t just another “flat” dial. The guilloché pattern—that fine design on the gold dial—gives it depth and makes the watch look much more expensive than it actually is. The coolest feature, however, is the “open heart.” Being able to see how the automatic movement works while wearing it is a real hit for me—it adds such a raw, mechanical character to it. The silver case and brown strap are an absolute classic that goes well with both a blazer and a plain shirt. You can tell it’s a solid, German design that won’t go out of style in a year or two. It’s cool that it also has a glass back, because I always like to take a peek at all those gears from below. A very solid automatic watch for someone looking for something with soul.

One of the definite pluses of this model is its aesthetic design, which works well both for everyday use and more formal occasions. It’s been a long time since a watch looked this good on my wrist, and more importantly—its mechanism worked flawlessly.
