The first products signed with the Shturmansky mark saw the light of day in 1949. Knowing the political situation in the then Soviet Union, it is easy to guess that excellent quality watches were available only to high-ranking military officials. However, a side business all the time was the production of timepieces for special tasks, such as those that ended up in the hands of the Soviet expedition to the North Pole. A huge step forward, which made the company famous and made it stop being associated only with military equipment, was the first successful human space flight. In 1961, Russian Yuri Gagarin saw our planet from the perspective of its orbit. He was accompanied by a special watch, precisely the Shturmanskiy. When it turned out that it performed flawlessly it became clear that the timepieces offered by the company are in a class of their own and have a huge advantage over other products available on the market.

Gagarin's expedition was the first, but not the last, to use these watches. Other cosmonauts from the Soviet Union also successfully used them during their missions. There is a movable ring around the clock face, which allows you to check the current time in another zone. In addition, the bright, easy-to-read dial has been endowed with a twenty-four-hour arrangement of Arabic numerals. Next to them there was enough space for a chronograph. The quartz mechanism used with Japanese technology guarantees reliability and long service life. The stainless steel envelope protects the delicate internal parts of the watch. The timepiece is water-resistant up to a depth of 100 meters.
