When were quartz watches invented?
The workings of the quartz movement may seem complicated at first glance. The vibrating quartz crystals are responsible for accurate timekeeping. The watch’s circuit counts all the vibrations and generates some electrical pulses. The crystal always vibrates at the same frequency, and therefore quartz watches are distinguished by accurate performance with no deviations, contrary to manual or automatic watches. The first quartz clocks, designed for use in laboratories, came out in 1927. The first commercial quartz clock was produced in 1697 by Seiko.
