Dustin's passion for watches was born in his college years, when he worked at a small watch workshop in Münster, Germany at the age of 16. It was there that his journey began, as he learned the daily routines of changing watch straps, filing paperwork and packaging items, among other things.
Dustin's close involvement with the watchmaking industry during his formative years played a significant role in shaping his character and igniting his passion for minimalist and classic timepieces. It wasn't until a few years later that he entertained the idea of starting his own watch company with designer yet affordable watches. The final step was to turn his dreams into reality.
At the age of 21, while working as a web designer, Dustin decided to make an about-turn. His goal was both simple and ambitious: to create and promote his own minimalist, high-quality Bauhaus-style watch at an affordable price.
Unfortunately, the idea struggled to withstand the time constraints and the high demands Dustin had set for himself. However, Dustin's perseverance and hard work finally paid off. In 2016, his vision became a reality when his crowdfunding campaign on the Kickstarter platform was successful and the first batch of Sternglas watches was released in October of the same year.
Today, Sternglas is a well-established German watch brand located in Hamburg. The Sternglas team comprises nearly 30 watch aficionados and creative minds who focus on continuous development and passion in their work. The core principle of the brand is to create exquisite watches using top-notch materials in the simple Bauhaus style at a fair price.
