The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflection coating, which improves the readability of the watch. The Ball watch is an elegant timepiece inspired by Ball pocket watches from the early 20th century, which represents the rich heritage and watchmaking craftmanship. The model is powered by the Swiss automatic BALL RR1105-C chronometer movement certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). The watch features 14 micro gas tubes on the dial and hands that shine automatically without any form of charging. Moreover, it’s resistant to magnetic fields up to 4,800 A/m and shocks of up to 5,000 Gs.

Long-lasting tradition of manufacturing accurate Ball watches

Ball has been manufacturing watches since 1891. Although Webster Clay Ball was a jeweller, he was employed to control the accurate time in the American railways in Cleveland. He would probably have done it for the rest of his life if it hadn't been for the terrible accident that happened in Kipton, near Cleveland. One of the mail trains collided with another and several people died as a result. The guard was to blame for the event as he entrusted the time control to the engine driver, whose watch suddenly stopped for four minutes and then started working again. If it hadn’t been for the failure of the watch, the accident wouldn’t have happened and people wouldn’t have died.

Webster Clay Ball was commissioned by the railway officials to investigate the causes of the train collision and check the accuracy of the guards’ timepieces (at that time, there were no standards for the production of watches). After the accident, Webster Clay Ball established strict guidelines for guards e.g. he forbade variations of more than 30 seconds among the watches.

After these events, the Ball brand was founded, which in a short time became one of the most recognizable companies in the United States. The brand has set itself the goal of creating watches that tell the time as accurately as possible.
