Suunto has started a partnership with Komoot! This means that all owners of Suunto smartwatches will have access to Komoot maps as part of the Suunto Valuepack in the Suunto app. Now finding and planning a trip in Komoot is even easier. The Komoot routes are automatically synchronised with the Suunto app. You can select and synchronise them with your Suunto watch. All your outdoor activities recorded with your Suunto watch are automatically synced with the Suunto app as well as the Komoot app.

Suunto and Komoot - now doing sports is even easier

The Suunto's partnership with Komoot isn't just about access to maps and map synchronisation. A key benefit is turn-by-turn navigation. When the Suunto app and Komoot are paired, the smartwatch alerts you about an upcoming turn. This makes the navigation experience more pleasant, as you don’t need to keep an eye on the navigation screen to see which way to take. There is one alert 100 metres before a turn and one at the turn.

Komoot - how was the app created?

Komoot was founded in 2014 by six friends from Berlin who thought it’d be a good idea to have an app that lets people explore the outdoors more easily. They started there, but some of them moved out of Berlin to develop the app and test it in different conditions. Now Komoot is considered a global company due to the fact that there is a great number of employees spread out across multiple countries and time zones.
