Seiko, known for its sports editions such as the Prospex 4R 'Shog-urai' Diver and Prospex Marinemaster, is introducing something special for lovers of the classics. The new Presage Craftsmanship Series Arita Porcelain Dial SPB445 is a fine example of watchmaking craftsmanship and elegance. The model is a continuation of the traditional Presage series, which features models with dials made of enamel or urushi lacquer. This time, Seiko has reached for Japanese porcelain from Arita, famous for its ceramic products since the 16th century.
The centrepiece of the new Seiko Presage is a unique, handmade porcelain dial. The process of creating it is a true art, requiring extraordinary precision and patience. The dial is moulded from porcelain clay and then subjected to a complicated treatment process involving three firings at 1,300°C. The end result is a dial with the delicate blue-grey hue characteristic of Arita porcelain. The two recesses in the centre and at 6 o'clock with the 24-hour counter catch the eye. The contrast between the bright porcelain and the dark blue hands, indexes and inscriptions emphasises the unique character of this watch.
Seiko has taken care not only of the unique dial, but also of the other elements of the watch. With a diameter of 40.6 mm and a height of 12.5 mm, the envelope is made of stainless steel and coated with a special hardening coating to increase its resistance to scratches. The lugs of the envelope have been carefully shaped, giving it a dynamic profile, and the combination of polished and brushed surfaces emphasises the elegant character of the model. This is complemented by the unique five-row bracelet, in which the outer links are brushed and the middle links are polished, creating a fascinating play of light on the wrist.
At the heart of the new Seiko Presage Craftsmanship Series Arita Porcelain Dial SPB445 is the advanced automatic calibre 6R5H. This is an enhanced version of the popular 6R55 movement, which offers an impressive 3-day walk reserve. As a result, the watch is not only stunning to look at, but also guarantees the reliable operation and precise timekeeping that is so important for discerning watchmaking enthusiasts.
Despite its classic character, the new Seiko Presage SPB445 does not forget about functionality. In addition to the standard indication of hours, minutes and seconds, the watch is equipped with a practical 24-hour counter, located in a recess at 6 o'clock. This is not only a practical solution, but also an element that highlights the unique design of the dial. Thus, for a price of approximately PLN 8750, we get not only a beautiful but also a functional watch model that will certainly become the pride of any collection.
