The military character is complemented by such elements as an enlarged crown, aerodynamic shape of the envelope, large markers with Super-LumiNova coating and Big Date timepiece.

Quartz mechanism

The Swiss gold-plated quartz movement ETA F06.161 with Big Date complication is responsible for timekeeping in the V.1.22.0.149.4 watch from Aviator brand. It is one of the best innovative mechanisms with a 68-months' reserve of gait and with 3 bearing stones. Its operation is based on an electrical system that obtains energy from a battery.

Sapphire glass

The dial of the Swiss V.1.22.0.149.4 watch is protected by mineral glass, which is highly transparent (eliminates 99% of reflections perceived by the human eye) and provides excellent protection against scratches. Aviator used this type of material because the sapphire, after processing, achieves a very high hardness, which on the Mohs scale is 9 out of 10 points.

Super-LumiNova®

The Aviator V.1.22.0.149.4 watch uses Super-LumiNova technology, which is a modern and non-radioactive luminescent coating based on strontium aluminate. It is applied to indexes, hands and dials. Thanks to exposure to any light source, it provides full legibility in the dark according to ISO 3157 standards.

A wonderful watch. Beautifully crafted (you can tell it’s not a toy), with an incredibly easy-to-read dial and date window (and that sapphire crystal!). The watch is very solid, sturdy, and well-designed. And most importantly: the manufacturer didn’t go overboard with gimmicks. Simplicity, subtlety, and elegance in their purest form. It’s very comfortable to wear; it’s not heavy at all (though that’s just my impression). Top marks for quality and appearance. I’ve been enjoying it since yesterday. A wonderful watch. Well made (you can see that it's not a toy), an extremely legible dial and a window with the date (and this sapphire!). The watch is very solid, strong and well-designed. And most importantly: the manufacturer did not exaggerate. Simplicity, subtlety and pure elegance. It is very comfortable to wear, it is not heavy at all (although that is my impression).
