The founders of the Junghans brand, founded on April 15, 1861 in Schramberg, Germany, were Erhard Junghans and his brother-in-law Jakobe Zeller-Tobler. Many years later, in 1903, the company had the largest clock factory in the world, with more than 3,000 employees. In 1927 Junghans began designing watches with mechanical winding. In the 1950s, thanks to hard work and the refinement of successive calibers, the company established a partnership with Bauhaus designer Max Bill, which culminated in a mechanical wristwatch with a distinctive minimalist design, launched in 1961. In the late 1980s, the first radio-controlled table clock was produced, in 1990 the first radio-controlled wristwatch called MEGA 1 appeared, while five years later the company unveiled an innovative for its time solar watch with a ceramic case. To this day, Jungahns remains faithful to the simple, elegant form of its products, combining it with the latest developments in the watchmaking industry.
