A great watch at a surprisingly low price. What’s more, it looks even better in person than in the photos—when I took it out of the box for the first time, I was really impressed by its appearance and solid build quality.
One of the elements that definitely suits my taste is the beautiful navy blue dial, which is quite dynamic. The hour markers, coated with LUMINOSIS, are applied, while the painted minute markers are located on the inner edge of the dial, which enhances the sense of depth of what lies beneath the crystal.
Before buying it, I was worried that the watch, with its nearly 43-millimeter case, would be too bulky for my 17.5-centimeter wrist. Fortunately, these fears proved unfounded—thanks to the bezel, whose outer part is silver, the watch doesn’t seem large at all. It must be admitted, however, that it has some weight to it (which I personally see as a plus) and feels solid.
In addition to its undeniable aesthetic appeal, the CASIO MTD-1053D also boasts excellent practical features. WR200 water resistance (both the case back and the crown are screw-down) means you don’t have to worry about getting it wet, and the unidirectional rotating bezel allows you to time intervals. And not just for divers. ;) I’ll admit that I use this feature many times a day, finding it a more convenient solution than launching the stopwatch on my phone.
Finally, the downsides. The only flaw I’ve noticed is that the bezel doesn’t fit perfectly, causing it to move slightly (you can hear it) when you press down on the bottom part. I suspect, however, that this is an issue with this specific piece, but for the price, I absolutely don’t consider it a flaw worth complaining about.
In a word—I can confidently recommend this watch to those who want to get their hands on something in the diver style for a small amount of money. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. :)
