My journey with this watch began in the ninth grade. It wasn’t my first choice—I had my eye on a different, more expensive Casio model—but unfortunately, I couldn’t afford it at the time. So, with the first money I ever earned, I bought a silver-and-blue Casio Edifice EFA-121D. I fell in love with it at first sight—after all, I’d worked hard for it over the summer. Above all, I was looking for a watch with high water resistance, since I like to swim, dive, and jump into the water. It absolutely had to have a backlight, an alarm, and a stopwatch. When I saw that it could display the temperature and times in other countries, believe me, this 15-year-old’s jaw hit the floor. And then there’s the design… Analog hands + digital display, numerals, a time track around the dial, and small sub-dials. Totally awesome! The watch captivated me with its look, shape, and wealth of details. The stainless steel case and bracelet looked impressive—I was afraid they might be too flashy for my skinny wrist. Fortunately, the watch has a very versatile size and looks great on any wrist. And yes, I’ve been the happy owner of this watch for 10 years now. It has never let me down, and the only thing I ever replace in it is the batteries. They last up to 3 years anyway, so you don’t have to worry about them dying . This watch is a real workhorse—vacations abroad, swimming in salty seas, diving headfirst into the water from high cliffs, ever-present sand… Bumps, knocks, falls from heights, and so on. It’s survived it all, and the only thing left on it are a few scratches on the crystal—which, by the way, is the original one. It was with me on my first date, gazed at Paris from the Eiffel Tower, swam in the Aegean Sea, strolled along the Montenegrin coast, ran through ancient Sparta… And that’s not all! It was on my hand during my engagement, and then, when the engine failed on a plane taking off and I was stranded for 18 hours at the terminal like Tom Hanks. It was with me when I defended my master’s thesis and started my PhD… It was even stolen once! It was later found under the bed, so I don’t even know how that happened ;). A watch that, because of everything it’s been through, has its own soul. Beyond the sentimental attachment I have for it, it boasts an almost indestructible build and the most important thing missing from all modern products—RELIABILITY! After all, the Japanese are known for their passion for perfection! Now it’s the granddaddy of watches, but it’s not going anywhere anytime soon!
I recommend this model to everyone—whether you’re playing soccer or wearing a suit, it’ll always work, trust me!
