Seiko is a company that needs no introduction as it’s one of the most popular watch brands around the world. Seiko has been in business for many years now. To commemorate the brand’s founder, the company has released the limited edition of the Seiko Astron Kintaro Hattori watch. Will it also become a global bestseller? Keep reading to find out.
The Seiko Astron Kintaro Hattori Limited Edition features a modern design. A solid case made of titanium refers to the former designs such as Seiko C-Shape from the 1960s. Both the case and the bracelet have a scratch-resistant hard-coating in black. The most eye-catching elements include the bezel and the crown. The crown is designed in a gold colour and the bezel has sixteen facets. The watch looks very elegant thanks to the black dial, gold hands and large indices.
The centre of the case back features the trademark "S", which has been the trademark of the Seikosha brand since 1900. Kintaro Hattori’s motto "One step ahead of the rest" appears above it - it’s been the motto of all Seiko designers to this day. The words "Limited Edition" and the individual watch’s serial number are also inscribed on the case back. The watch is limited to just 2500 pieces worldwide. That’s why the watch is perfect for horology enthusiasts.
Seiko Astron Kintaro Hattori Limited Edition is powered by the Seiko 5X53 solar movement with a 6-month power reserve. It features a dual time (home and local time). That’s why it’s a perfect device for businessmen travelling around the world. The hands are coated with LumiBrite for excellent visibility. In addition, the watch comes with GPS, a day-date indicator, the airplane mode, a perpetual calendar and automatic adjustment to Daylight Saving Time. It has a water resistance rating of 200 metres, so it’s suitable for swimming.
The Seiko Astron Kintaro Hattori Limited Edition is one of many watches from the Seiko Astron collection. The collection includes best-selling watches that combine a classic approach to watchmaking with modern design typical for the brand. Seiko Astron watches were first released in 2012. Since the beginning of the brand’s existence, they have been known for their classic look, technological advancement and satellite connection.
Kintaro Hattori is the first and one of the most important Japanese watchmakers in the country's history. In 1881, the young Hattori already decided to establish K. Hattori & Co. In the early days of the company, Hattori cooperated with Swiss companies, concentrating at that time exclusively on the sale of imported Swiss watches. After 20 years of experience in the watch business, Hattori decided to manufacture his own watches called Seikosha. In 1905 the brand was already the leading watch retailer in the country. In the same year, Hattori opened sales agencies in Shanghai and Hong Kong. And that was only the beginning. In 1913, he introduced Japan's first wristwatch, the Laurel. Unfortunately, in 1923 the Seikosha factory and the offices of K. Hattori & Co Ltd. were destroyed after the Great Kanto Earthquake. It marked a new beginning for the company. In 1924, Hattori created the first watch that carried the Seiko name (a few years later Seiko revolutionised the watch market by producing the first quartz watch). Thanks to his pioneering approach to business, his courage and perseverance, Kintaro Hattori achieved the impossible and eventually turned the watch industry on its head.
The Seiko Astron Kintaro Hattori Limited Edition proves that combining tradition with modern elements makes sense. Seiko does not clash with elements from the Astron collection. The Seiko’s motto is "One step ahead of the rest", which is why each Seiko watch is a true masterpiece among wristwatches. Check out Seiko watches on our online shopping website Watchard.com.
