The Calibre 400 series has so far consisted exclusively of automatic watches, e.g. the Aquis 400 ProPilot X 400 and the Big Crown Pointer Date 403. Now, Oris has recently returned to its traditional roots and created a new, innovative manual movement called the Calibre 473, which is a continuation of the 400 family. How much will the new Oris Big Crown Pointer Date Calibre 473 watch cost? Keep on reading to find out about its price, exact specifications and release date.

Aviation style in all its glory

A multi-piece case made of stainless steel is 38mm in diameter. It’s finished by brushing and polishing. The watch is fitted with a knurled crown, which is a characteristic feature of aviation watches. Thanks to the well thought-out oversized design of the crown, pilots can manipulate it easily while wearing gloves. That’s why it’s not surprising that the new movement is included in the Big Crown collection.

The vintage look is achieved with the retro design and selection of great colours, e.g. a soft light blue dial associated with Tiffany & Co. Although the colour Tiffany Blue is now becoming very trendy, it was used by the manufacturer in the Oris Big Crown X Cervo Volante collection some time ago. This further demonstrates the brand’s superiority over its competitors. The dial stands out with its well-thought out colours, white markings, Arabic indices, a small seconds dial at six o'clock and a date scale with a visible patented red date pointer, which adds contrast to the entire design.

Masterfully crafted Calibre 473

The key role in the design is played by the movement, though much attention needs to be taken to see it closely. Calibre 473 is the mechanical equivalent of the Calibre 403 automatic movement. Why? Because it is also equipped with a 120-hour power reserve, it’s known for anti-magnetic properties and has a small seconds function at 6 o'clock (you can figure it out by the numeral 3 in the name of the movement). The case back features a see-through sapphire crystal, which shows the power reserve indicator. The calibre comes with a 10-year warranty
