The Certina Heritage DS-1 Himalaya Special Edition men's watch C029.807.11.031.60 is a luxury Swiss Made model that was created as part of a unique collection that refers to the first successful ascent of the Dhaulagiri peak in 1960. At the time, extremely rugged Certina watches were used. The universal silver color scheme means that it will correspond well with smart casual attire. The envelope houses a convex dial with slender hands. The whole is suspended on a comfortable stainless steel bracelet. The model is distinguished by the engraving of a mountain landscape with the signature "Dhaulagiri, 8167 m, 1960". The men's Certina Heritage DS-1 Himalaya Special Edition automatic watch C0298071103160 is water resistant to 100m, has a double mechanism protection system, and comes with a two-year manufacturer's warranty.
Functions
Steel
The 316L stainless steel, which Certina uses for cases, bracelets and clasps for instance, is extremely resistant, corrosion-resistant and hygienic. It contains only a very small proportion of nickel, which is not emitted when worn and therefore does not trigger any nickel allergies.
Sapphire
Sapphire watch crystal is made of aluminium oxide powder (Al2O3) heated to over 2000°C. The resultant sapphire nugget is cut with great precision into fine slices, trimmed and polished. Sapphire is extremely scratch-resistant, shock-resistant and is very transparent. This is why sapphire crystal is an essential element in the DS Concept.
DS
Since 1959, the DS Concept has reflected Certina's uncompromising standards. The secret behind this "Double Security" (DS) lies in a robust design which, with its scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, sophisticated sealing system that includes the stem and crown, and reinforced watch back, covers every aspect of the watch case. Thanks to the DS Concept, every single one of Certina's timepieces boasts outstanding resistance – a quality that their owners can always rely on.
Anti-reflective coating
It is possible to enhance the quality of a sapphire crystal to an even greater extent by providing it with an anti-reflective coating on one or both sides. The Certina brand is becoming increasingly focussed on equipping its timepieces with an extremely high-quality anti-reflective coating on both sides, whereby several layers of this coating on both sides of the crystal ensure that it is possible to see through the timepieces in an optimum manner.
80 h power reserve
The power reserve provides you with information about how long a mechanical timepiece can run for without being wound. Most timepieces have a power reserve of around 38 to 42 hours. Certina's innovative Powermatic 80 automatic calibre offers a power reserve of up to 80 hours – almost double as long as comparable models.
10 BAR (100 M)
This information about the water resistance states the specified overpressure and diving depth to which a watch can be subjected and still remain in working order. As a general rule, we do not recommend wearing watches that are water-resistant to less than 10 bar (100 m) when swimming or diving. All Certina timepieces can withstand a pressure of at least 10 bar (100 m) stand – some of our watches can even withstand considerably higher pressures!

Sapphire glass
Certina C029.807.11.031.60 is equipped with a sapphire crystal, which perfectly protects the watch from scratches. The hardness of this material is 9/10 points on the Mohs scale.
Powermatic 80
At the heart of the Certina C029.807.11.031.60 watch is the Powermatic 80 automatic movement, whose phenomenal power reserve is as high as 80 hours. In addition, the watch has 23 bearing stones, and its frequency of operation is 21600 vibrations per hour. The size of the mechanism is 25.60 mm by 4.60 mm.
Nivachron
The Certina C029.807.11.031.60 watch features a movement equipped with the patented Nivachron titanium hairspring, which protects the model from upsetting due to harmful magnetic radiation. The spring is resistant to temperature fluctuations, aging and shock.
DS Concept system
DS Concept technology protects the Certina C029.807.11.031.60 watch from damage due to extreme weather and pressure conditions thanks to 5 solutions, and these are: a sapphire crystal glass, an o-ring seal on the shaft, two on the crown, one on the caseback, and a reinforcement of the caseback. The model is also shock-resistant.

2/11/22I am passionate about mountains and love everything related to the Himalayas and mountaineering. This Certina is such a treat, a memory of having once made a memorable expedition, Dhaulagiri - conquered in 1960. The model is beautiful and raw like snow on the slopes untouched by the foot of man. I like the power of the mechanism in it, it is not susceptible to harmful radiation and can be worn indefinitely. It came perfectly packaged. I am really delighted with it. I heartily recommend it, a limited edition at such a price is something!
