The Certina Heritage DS-1 Big Date Special Edition men's watch C029.426.11.091.60 is a luxury Swiss Made model from a special collection. It was created as part of the 60th anniversary commemorating the creation of the DS Concept system. The convex dial in a beautiful bottle color is decorated with a sunray cut and a dégradé effect. It is protected by a hard sapphire glass with anti-reflection. The perfect complement is the silver tone of the markers, the envelope and the mesh bracelet. The latter two elements are made of 316L stainless steel. Responsible for its precise timekeeping and the operation of the Big Date timekeeper is the innovative Powermatic 80 automatic movement with the DS double security system and the Nivachron™ anti-magnetic spring. The Certina Heritage DS-1 Big Date Special Edition C0294261109160 watch is water-resistant to 100m, has a double-safety system for the mechanism, and comes with a two-year manufacturer's warranty.
Functions
Steel
The 316L stainless steel, which Certina uses for cases, bracelets and clasps for instance, is extremely resistant, corrosion-resistant and hygienic. It contains only a very small proportion of nickel, which is not emitted when worn and therefore does not trigger any nickel allergies.
Sapphire
Sapphire watch crystal is made of aluminium oxide powder (Al2O3) heated to over 2000°C. The resultant sapphire nugget is cut with great precision into fine slices, trimmed and polished. Sapphire is extremely scratch-resistant, shock-resistant and is very transparent. This is why sapphire crystal is an essential element in the DS Concept.
Nivachron™
An innovative new titanium-based alloy that is used for balance springs. This revolutionary material was developed in collaboration with the Swatch Group and is used in selected brands. Nivachron™ springs are highly resistant to magnetic fields, shock, ageing and temperature fluctuations, lending them extremely high mechanical precision and making them remarkably reliable in everyday use.

Since 1959, the DS Concept has reflected Certina's uncompromising standards. The secret behind this "Double Security" (DS) lies in a robust design which, with its scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, sophisticated sealing system that includes the stem and crown, and reinforced watch back, covers every aspect of the watch case. Thanks to the DS Concept, every single one of Certina's timepieces boasts outstanding resistance – a quality that their owners can always rely on.
Mesh
Mesh straps and Milanese bracelets are made of tiny metal elements that are woven together in a fine knit. Watchmakers first started using this traditional manufacturing technique many decades ago. Mesh straps are extremely robust yet beautifully elegant at the same time. They hug the wrist comfortably, feeling smooth against the skin.
Anti-reflective coating
It is possible to enhance the quality of a sapphire crystal to an even greater extent by providing it with an anti-reflective coating on one or both sides. The Certina brand is becoming increasingly focussed on equipping its timepieces with an extremely high-quality anti-reflective coating on both sides, whereby several layers of this coating on both sides of the crystal ensure that it is possible to see through the timepieces in an optimum manner.

Sapphire glass

Powermatic 80

Thanks to the DS Concept technology comprising 5 solutions (o-ring seals on the shaft, crown, caseback, sapphire glass and reinforced caseback, the Certina C029.426.11.091.60 watch is resistant to extremes of weather as well as pressure. The system makes the device shock-resistant.
Water resistance

The Certina is for Dad, and I will admit for the moment that it presents itself phenomenally. 11/9/21The watch is supposed to be a man's, but I didn't mind buying it for myself. I was simply charmed by this bottle green, a large date display, and a very stylish mesh bracelet. I had to have it. And the case and the dial. Finally, something that is not as small as with women's watches: D

11/8/21The watch really impresses and is worth the price. For a long time I had been trying on buying some Certina, especially since I was approaching 50 on my neck and I guess I was having a mid-life crisis. However, I couldn't decide on any particular model. I was also a bit of an intrusive husband, as I kept asking my wife's opinion every now and then which one she liked. Praise that she did not send me to the devil at that time :D And finally, the day of my 50th came, me without a watch - unfortunately, and dinner with loved ones. At the end of it, the spouse comes up and hands me a box. And inside? This very Certina watch. I guess she had had enough of my indecision after all. I'll admit that I wear it all the time. It's comfortable, precise, lightweight, well, and that stunning dial color. Well, what to want more? Probably just a cold beer brought to bed by my wife in the evening :D Joke ;P
